CNA and… Nursing Career

The mid-life career changes are nothing new. If you are looking for a field with many opportunities and if you enjoy caring for others, nursing may be right for you. Employment prospects are robust: The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports employment of registered nurses will grow faster than average for all occupations through 2008. Some reports indicate that more than 1 million new and replacement nurses will be needed by 2012. A nursing career is profitable: the typical starting salary in the range of $ 50K-$ 35K and increase significantly for more specialized positions. Some hospitals are even offering signing bonuses of more than $ 14K. • Graduate of a recognized program of care
• Meeting the needs of the State Board of Nursing
• Pass the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) NCLEX ® examination for nurses (RN) or licensed practical / vocational nurses (LPN / ENV).

Choose carefully to school. There are more than 1,500 treatment programs in the country. The minimum educational requirement for entry into programs of care is a high school diploma, but require advanced degrees in higher education. Most require an entrance examination. There are three basic types of programs available:
• For those with bachelor degrees, postgraduate programs are available based on their training and put on a crash course. This allows you to finish in 12-18 months.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN degree) programs are four years in high schools and universities. To build a solid foundation, providing leadership and management skills.
• Associate Degree Nursing (AND) programs are available in two years are found in many communities and schools. Pre-nursing courses are generally required.
